Matthew Doughty and John McAliskey's second-half strikes helped Altrincham boost their play-off bid at Tamworth.Doughty opened the scoring with 19 minutes left with a fine free-kick, before McAliskey netted from close range to clinch the points.
Tamworth pressed late on and Nick Wright forced a good save from Stuart Coburn before Neil MacKenzie hit the crossbar from 30 yards.
Bradley Pritchard had earlier missed from six yards out for the hosts.
